Saturday night, warm and dry outside, glass of good Alto Rouge next to me. Finally some time to finish telling you about our Scotland road trip!
On the way down from Fountains Abbey on a small and twisty B road, a Reliant Robin provided some entertainment as the driver pushed it to the limit to keep up with us. If you don't know what a Reliant Robin is, think Mr Bean. Its the car he always terrorised in his shows. This one was red and Sammy got a picture of him following us. Priceless.
We spent Saturday evening visiting my cousin Michelle and her husband Paul Whitehead. Good people and we enjoy visiting them. Especially since Michelle is a superb cook. The type that is ridiculously talented and equally modest about it. When they come to visit us here in Bournemouth, Sammy and I are going to be under big pressure. I think we will need some time to research and test some recipes before allowing her in to have a dinner. Before dinner they took us all to visit their new stables, just 5 minutes drive away. There we met a motley collection of dogs, horses and what can only be described as a mixture of both.Mr Bombastic Shaggy Fantastic Whitehead the 4th. Or Shaggy for short. Actually he is just a fully grown St Bernard, and he has lived up to the reputation for size. In a word, enormous. But Shaggy actually is very gentle in nature and a slobbers everywhere and seemed to love everyone and the attention! Then there is P Doggy Dog. Or Lady P. Or P Dog. She is a very very very cute British Bulldog puppy. And Sammy is totally smitten. She is super cute even though bulldogs are supposed to be ugly, but P Dog is just too much! Michelle also has some horses including Dennis who is the biggest horse I have ever seen. Must be something in the water there! We spent a great evening at the Whitehead household and taught my aunt to use emoticons in her text messages. I think Michelle may regret that, because she was sending a few rude emoticons within a few minutes of learning! Still she embraced the technology so all good.
On the way home on that Sunday we popped in and saw the boys. They were a bit subdued but pleased to see us and we left feeling like it was really time for them to come home. (That was two weeks ago, we saw them today and they are great and only 6 weeks to go!). We had a busy week getting ready to move and on Monday this week we left the island for the next part of our adventure! I do have some stories to tell, but its late so here are a few photos and we will post the pics of the move and the new home tomorrow I hope! Much love as always Rich and Sam
